PDC was asked to create a plan that would provide opportunities for a 50-acre industrial site at the south terminus for the Mill Creek Linear Park Project.
PDC proposed a mixed-use village destination with a mix of approximately 500 residential units; 125,000SF of specialty retail, entertainment, and restaurants; live/work units, artists’ lofts and galleries; and canal improvements and special water/fountain feature on the redevelopment site located north of California Avenue and west of Union Avenue.
In addition, the goal of the proposal was to both enhance and enliven existing commercial businesses along California Avenue and to create a more walkable environment. The proposed plan provided pedestrian connections between the McMurtrey Aquatic Center and Kern County Government offices.
